Plouse Precision Manufacturing uses electrical discharge wire machining (EDM) for the production of precision parts for many applications. We serve a variety of markets such as aerospace, medical, defense, automotive and electronics / semiconductor manufacturing, that all parties who may use wire EDM to obtain tolerances narrow.
Wire EDM service at our Harrisburg Campus
Using our CNC controlled wire EDMS, We have repeatedly produce precision parts with high precision and complex geometry program. Wire EDM is not a traditional method of removing material by a series of rapidly recurring electric arcs between a discharge electrode (wire) and the part. The machine of the DC-charged thin brass wire can slice through any material electrically conductive, including difficult-to-machine metals such as hardened tool steels.
Electrical Discharge Mechanical works only with materials that are electrically conductive and generally the materials are ferrous alloys. The wire-cut process uses water as a dielectric with the water of resistivity and other electrical properties to be carefully controlled by filters and deionizer units. The water also serves the critical function of flushing the cut debris away from the workpiece.
Cable EDM'd surfaces are smooth with a matte appearance. The edges of the piece finished, do not have much respect burrs cut ground. The Fanuc Robocut?-1ic is the last model used in our Harrisburg location. Surface finishes are generally between 16 and 64 micro inches as dictated by the speed and type of material. Only some of the advantages of EDM Wire include:
- Wire EDM is a cost-effective replacement for the "form of reply."
- The need for adjustment and other finishing procedures decreased.
- Some well-toleranced features can be produced cheaper than in traditional machining.
- The parties can often be "stacked" multi-machine parts with a configuration.
- Finished products are close or burr-free edges.
- EDM wire offers complex geometric capacity.
- High Rockwell materials can be cut without pushing the material, minimizing the work-hardening.
