Hard Rubber
A spokesman for the jazz alto sax for a completely different sound from a hard rubber mouthpiece?
I've been playing the alto sax for about 5 years. Currently a rubber mouthpiece. I am a big fan of jazz and I want to improve and I get very good sound. I also want to learn to growl. A jazz mouthpiece will sound very different from a hard rubber mouthpiece? If so, I will be the sound you want? Please answer, I appreciate it.
Michael is right. Your mouth is going to do less than a difference in his sound, and then practice. In addition, there are many hard rubber jazz mouthpieces. It must not be metal. But your mouth does not make a big difference in sound. If you want a jazz sound you want a mouthpiece with a small camera. This gives a bright tone sharp. Bari mouthpieces assign it to jazz (in metal and rubber) and Meyer is also known for make a good spokesperson. Go to a local music and try some out. (you never want to have a mouthpiece without trying it). While there is some 'real books and some jazz reeds too. Michael is just growling. By the way, if you want to learn jazz, you want to start learning some theory behind. Mark Levine is a great book on just that and it will help immensely with improvisation.
