HOT WORK PROCEDURES
1. PURPOSE
The purpose of this rule is to document control procedures for hot work in hazardous situations.
2nd SCOPE
This standard applies to all situations in which the hot work has been done outside designated workshop.

Hot work
Hot welding, cutting, grinding or any other operation that may cause fire, sparks or a significant rise in temperature in proximity to flammable or explosive materials and / or atmosphere.
Specialist
A competent person is a person that through a combination of training, education and experience, acquired knowledge and skills that would enable him to properly perform a specific task.
Head
A responsible person is a competent person, authorized in writing by the plant or process owner, to undertake hot work tasks as required.
5th PROCEDURE
5.1 Permits
Hot work permits should be completed in duplicate.
A permit to work hot-must be issued before the commencement of any hot work.
A permit for hot work should only remain valid for one shift.
Before granting permission may be granted for any person to perform hot work, the plant or process owner must make an assessment of risks and complete their section of the hot work permit.
Where are the necessary precautions, the work permit hot should include details of specific actions, and test methods of work necessary to ensure the safety of people who do the work and the integrity of the system.
5.2 Authority to work
Permission hot work must be the release of which is, as the owner has made the security system or process.
The official release will ensure that all sections of the work permit hot have been completed.
5.3 Termination of permit
When the work covered by the work permit heat and fires were completed the checks, the person designated to advise the plant or process owner.
When informed that the work was completed, the plant or a process owner, inspect the hot work to ensure that the work is complete and the surface is clean, orderly and fire checks were performed.
The plant or process owner transmits the work permit to complete a warm and assessment of risks to health and safety coordinator.
5.4 Original permit to be required to work, the duplicate will be forwarded to Occupational Health & Safety Co-ordinator.
5.5 Location: Hot work permit is required for all hot work outside designated workshop.

7th RESPONSIBILITY
7.1 Engineering Manager / Mechanical Supervisor
The Engineering Manager / Mechanical Superintendent must:
• issuance of work permits for the warm work surface.
7.2 Security Co-ordinator
The safety coordinator should keep warm and keep duplicating the work permits for a period of five (5) years.
