Oleg Systems Co. designs industrial dust including systems for collecting dry type dust collectors. Dust collection equipment utilizing the principle of wet dust collection is available in numerous designs utilizing a number of principles and with wide variation in effectiveness, initial cost, operating costs and maintenance, space, arrangements and construction materials. Dust collectors are widely used in industry for a wide range of applications. They require more space than most other types of devices for purifying the air, necessiating outdoor installation in most cases.

One of the most popular and efficient collector of dry powder type designs is Pulse-Jet Dust Collector.

In a pulse-jet dust collector, dust is collected on the outer surface of the filter bag. To remove the accumulated dust, a pulse of compressed air is sent down through the bag to flex the bag to the outside surface, dislodging powder. Dust bag falls for the removal from the dust collector. This pulse of air is automatically activated by a timer or a pressure differential signal monitored through the filter media, which allows the cleaning and car-unattended operation. Dust-laden air enters the dust collector through an entry and the entry into dusty air filter plenum containing elements. A tube diaphragm deflects some of the larger particles in the airstream down to the immediate removal, thereby reducing the wear bag filter, removing large abrasive particles before they accumulate the stock.

The pulse-jet dust collector also has a header for the plant commected compressed air (100 bar pressure) and acts as a reservoir. At intervals, a solenoid valve releases an explosion of compressed air down the air tube all filter bags. The impulse of compressed air produces a shock along the length of the bag. Converging venturi aspirates air filtered into the air bag clean plenum to assist in cleaning bags, so the plant minimizing air consumption. The timer sequence of cleaning cycle, row by row, until all the bags are clean. The cycle is repeated.

The cleaning cycle is also initiated by monitoring differential pressure across the tube sheet separates the plenums. As dust accumulates on the surface of the filter, the pressure differential between the average increases. At a certain value, the solenoid is activated and the cleaning is done. Starting the cleaning cycle in a pressure differential predetrmined setting eliminates cleaning during periods of loading of dust of light, increases bag life, and reduces the use of compressed air.

Filter material was selected on the basis of operating temperatures, type and particle size of conduct, dust collectors capacity. At room temperature, the majority of pulse-cleaning collectors use 10 to 14-oz polyester felt media. Synthetic materials have better resistance to heat of natural materials. At high temperatures up to 500 F, bags of fiber glass may be used. Nomex is well suited to the 250 to 400 F range. Surface finish of the bag enhances release of sticky dusts. Apply a layer of silicon to the final bag is commonly used. Special coatings provide a membrane with tiny perforations that achieve very high efficiency filtration. Folds of the filter elements to allow more surface area and are often adjusted in the system.
