Clothes washer discharge / drain connection to sewer line?
The drain pipe for discharge is about 3-4 meters above the washer. Can I connect to it even if it is at this point above the washer?
The specifications of the manufacturer varies, and you may be able to check the manual [or manufacturers web site], but generally speaking, 3-4 feet is not a problem. There are two things you must do: 1) ... You must have a trap to keep out the smells and parasites ... and ... 2) you must be sure to provide an exhaust pipe big enough to handle the large volume that the washer pump puts out. The most common way to do that [e the simplest] is to use 1 1 / 2 "[or even 2"] PVC pipe. Do you need a trap [a factory made assembly-shaped "S" or a "P"], and a length of pipe the same diameter of at least 2 'long [3' to 4 'is better] vertically from the trap. The hook upside down "J" shaped end of the washer outlet on top of this piece of pipe, so that the waste water exits the exhaust, in this 2-4 feet "standpipe", and then passes through the trap and into your drain. You can secure the washer outlet end connected to the tube with tape Conduct, wire, etc., if you wish, but you should not seal the connection ... the system depends on the system for air to enter at this point. All that being said, if the local code does not PVC can, you should do the same with copper or steel or whatever is necessary. It 's just more problems with cost and other materials ... the principles are the same. One last thing ... If your washers' out of the pipe is not long enough to reach the exhaust pipe, buy a short length of the rubber tube same diameter of the washer drain, which is long enough to make the necessary height. Two coupling fitings [usually plastic with "barb" fitting and screw terminals], cut the pipe exit and enter this' extension 'piece of exhaust pipe so that you get new standpipe / trap installation.
