What connection using NPN transistor to boost output current from the engine to operate ?controller

what I would use the configuration to amplify the output current I? what type of NPN transistor HV low current input and output capable of generating high current? how should I connect them? sorry .... forgot to mention ... my engine DC motor .... is the output from microcontroller .... I am now using C9013 .... you hv good suggestion of transistors that can provide greater current production ... My desired output current is 50 mA .. we r using relays to switch the motor ... but the output from the PIC is low ... sometimes to work, but sometimes .... cannot then try to get higher for the current that can ... and I think we should connect directly to the motor current or the need for subsidies from the relay? The transistor requiring high power input current or voltage? y need heat sink motor? I didn't plan to get rid of heat, it is important v? y?

Need more info --- What kind of engine? Step by step? CC? AC (waveform created by the controller)? AC (power utility)? You usually need the power transistors that require a heat sink for engines. What type of NPN you? As "high current" do you need? How are you going to get remove heat? UPDATE: The relay are easier to work with - You can use the transistor to turn the relay, which then closes its contacts and turns on the engine. The relay coil must be connected (with the correct polarity) to the collector and then to a power supply that can work with +12 V? 5 V? 15 V?
