SMPS stands for switched mode power supply, switching mode Powe
SMPS stands for Switched Mode Power Supply or switching-mode power supply.
SMPS is a power supply unit (PSU) for electronic use that contains a switching regulator. While a linear regulator maintains the voltage output by dissipating excess power in a "pass" power transistor, the SMPS switches a power transistor at the faster rate between saturation (full) and cut (completely off) with a variable of this course is the desired output voltage. This process gives rectangular waveform as a result that is filtered by a low pass filter with the use of inductors and capacitors.
The supreme advantage of using this process is in SMPS which gives a better efficiency. E 'due to the small dissipation of power by the switching transistor in the saturated state and the off state compared to the semiconducting state (active region). Other advantages of Switch Mode Power Supply (SMPS) include smaller size and lighter weight, which is more low-frequency transformers that have a high weight. SMPS can be classified into four types based on its waveform input and output, as follows.
AC in, DC out: rectifier, off-line converter input stage.
DC DC: converter voltage, current, or DC converter or DC converter
In AC, AC out: change in frequency cycloconverter
DC in AC out: inverter
